Thank ye very much, your name is pretty cool too. :P
The irony is that Rick had Magnus have a teacher who tried to forcibly correct his left-handed nature, which is portrayed as in the wrong (As it should be) but Alex is never called out by anyone over her attitude of extending potential harm to individuals who wouldn’t know she was transgender and genderfluid, or make an honest mistake that they could correct.
I found that rather....disturbing, honestly~ No wonder I lacked empathy when her flashback scene in HoT showed up, she was unpleasant and everyone just let her get away with it.
Exactly.
I always see posts where it's something like Magnus does something stupid and Alex punches him in the face then jokes about it. Obviously Rick did not right these posts/headcanons/memes? but the fact that some fans think doing that to your partner is normal, really freaks me out.
It's easy to search up the pronunciation of a name, it's a common Italian name. :) It's 1.
well, im not gunna say ya cant ship who ya want, but i personally prefer fierrochase to sam x magnus but only because sam really really likes her betrothed. yes, both sam and magnus do have chemistry, but i think more in a brotp kinda way...
i dunno why you would hate alex, although maybe thats just cos you havent read the new book yet, but i think other users on this thread have made good points! honestly, how alex is acting is pretty on point for someone in her/his position would act. alex does kinda act like a jerk at times, and is a bit brash, but it makes sense in context of her/his character's backstory.
and i dont think the fandom likes alex because alex is the second kid of loki. im not really sure that matters because the fandom has shown a couple of times that thye will love a well written character despite parentage (ie, jason isnt as wildly popular even though his dad is friggin king of the gods, and the son of the god of death has an entire army of fangirls almost as big as the fangirl army of the son of the ugly crippled god of fire) and kids' parentage in the books isnt a huge things, because even a hermes kid could do something pretty big. so while im sure being the child of loki most certainly helped with alex's involvement in the quests and helped alex get thier foot in the door, i dont think that they would have let a worthless good for nothing stick with the team...
i will admit to major fandom bias because of diversity, though. the inclusion of a genderfluid character is AWESOME and i think that you do make a point about that making alex special, although maybe not in the dismissive and slightly patronizing way it was phrased. (i dunno if you intended it that way, but that is how it could be read? as if you were dismissing that part of the character?) But, the fact that they were LGBTQ also contributes to their backstory, which shaped their character and personality, as im sure years of torment and abuse because of gender identity and parenthood would to any person.
i know the only thing that will probly change your mind/influence yer opinion on this is reading the canon material, but i hope you can keep an open mind towards alex! if ya dont ship em, no biggie, but idk if hate is deserved in this case? maybe more of a strong dislike or disapointment in the development of the personality of their character?
tl;dr : dont hate alex pls until you have finished SotD, there is more to her/him that meets the eye, and more that will be explained, but while i disagree with ur ships, i wont try to force you XD
I agree that the representation for genderfluid people is AMAZING but I feel like Rick actually can't write it very well. Everything about Alex's character was to do with her gender, even her choice of books and that's not at all realistic.
Of course, that's just my opinion and you're welcome to have yours. :)
No?? Like Annabeth and Percy said, it was a thought not an act. In no way would I say it's ok to kill someone if you said sorry, and I'm pretty sure Piper has never done that so why would I?
You can scroll through http://riordan.wikia.com/wiki/Thread:143737 for a full description of why Piper is heavily unlikable.
It's not what you first think, but how you react after that makes you a good or bad person. She thought it and then thought, "No. That's bad, I'm wrong and I'm sorry for thinking like that, I've changed my mind."
If somebody thinks like that it shows they are capable of showing remorse and feeling guilty for something they've done and THAT shows who they are as a person, not their initial feeling.
Frazel is probably my favourite but that was hard!
The reason I don't like Alex is that I don't think he handled her character very well. There's a whole other thread about that on here which I suggest everyone reads, mainly because it's very interesting. I also don't particularly like Alex's brash personality.
I do however think it's amazing how much diversity is in these books and it's great to see so much representation for LGBTQA+.
I personally don't like Samirah x Magnus and wish Magnus had stayed singled but of course, I don't care what other people ship as long as it's not illegal or abusive.
Have a nice day! X

On an unrelated note, Magnilla was my first Magnus Chase ship and a love triangle would've been interesting.
Ps. Marvel Thor has nothing to do with our Thor.
Agree, agree agree with that first bit.
Magnilla could have been interesting I think. I personally don't ship Alex x Magnus so I'm always ready to find new ships!
My favourite all time Riordan character is Reyna. For each book:
PJO: Percy
HOO: Percy but I also love Reyna
TKC: Have not read.
TOA: None of the new characters if I'm honest, Nico.
MCGA: Samirah or Magnus
A lot of people seem to think that might happen but so far I haven't met anyone who ships them. I would personally hate that and I really hope it doesn't happen.
Leo and Frank make a little more sense haha. I'd love a Chinese series with Frank and a few other new characters. We do know that those gods exist in the Riordan world, or at least Grandma Zhang thinks so.
Maori could happen - how about Michael Kahale from Camp Jupiter having a Polynesian cousin tangled with Polynesian deities?
I love that idea! My grandmother is Maori so that's a personal angle for me. :)
Yeah, that's what I hate. There's nothing more to Alex's character than the fact that she is genderfluid which is a real shame.
I would love Celtic or Hindu, that would be cool.
Or even Maori though I know that's extremely unlikely.
Haha sadly yes, though I guess I have to love my family. xD I agree.
I agree, there was a bit where Leo said something like: "I get not being as good as Jason or Percy but how many Franks am I worth?"
Before I do this, I'll just say that I love ALL of the seven and this was really hard for me to do. :)
From my favourite to my least favourite:
1) Percy - I think Percy is a lot of people's favourites because we've had the time to get to know him unlike some of the newer characters. <3 ((Reyna still steals the number one spot of all time favourite characters though))
2) Hazel - Hazel is just the sweetest and nicest girl. She seems to be the only person in the seven who actually gets along with ALL of them.
3) Frank - Ahh I love Frank. I think since Son of Neptune he really grew on me and his relationship with Hazel is the sweetest.
4) Piper - I don't really understand the amount of hate Piper gets. After I re-read The Lost Hero she started to grow on me and now she's one of my favourites. Most people seem to hate her because of Jiper/Jasper. For me it's a great ship because they're not adorable, they're not a power couple. They're just a normal teen couple which shows that the seven are all just kids mixed up in the fighting and wars.
5) Jason - ^^Read Above^^ I do have to admit that he can be a bit bland sometimes but I do love him really.
6) Leo - I love Leo's jokes and personality. The reasons he's in sixth place: I thought his treatment of Frank was really mean and I think he kind of knew he was upsetting Frank. After HOH Leo just kind of went downhill for me.
7) Annabeth - I do like Annabeth, I love how smart she is and she was amazing in MoA. But she's in the last place because I think sometimes she can be really rude and mean to people. Her treatment of Rachel, Tyson and sometimes even Percy was awful. That aside, she can be a good role model for people reading the books.
If you're reading this, I hope you have a really great day! :)

I absolutely loved the Sword of Summer. Hammer of Thor was ruined for me by Alex who like Vidia Phoenix said, is like an older Meg. I read some of Ship of the Dead and I guess I should continue it but it's honestly not the best book.
I can't remember where but Rick once said that Reyna isn't lesbian because if he wrote that it would support the idea that 'a girl is only lesbian because boys have rejected her.'
I think Reyna will either stay single or will end up with a mortal guy. :) I personally kind of ship Jeyna (though I love Jiper too) and I don't like Theyna that much. Reynico is more best friends in my opinion, I prefer Solangelo.
Have a good day!

I think that:
-Percy is in love with Annabeth
-Had a crush on Rachel
-Likes Calypso as a friend
