In The Last Olympian, Percy and Annabeth talk a lot. Most of them are about Luke Castellan. By this book, readers already know that Percy gets jealous about Luke and when Annabeth defends him. Mostly, he tries to point Luke’s flaws and how evil he was when they talk about him. But one thing that catches my eye is how Percy drops the matter when he sees that things are getting too intense. Yeah, sure he’s jealous, but he always manages to keep his cool and he even apologies when he gets angry in The Battle of the Labyrinth.
Then we have Rachel. We can all tell by the start of The Battle of the Labyrinth that Annabeth gets jealous whenever Rachel is around Percy, or whenever Percy mentions Rachel. Annabeth gets so angry and passive aggressive towards Percy that it can sometimes make me angry. It pisses me off that Percy can keep his cool about Luke but Annabeth can’t about Rachel even though Rachel doesn’t even do anything.
Now, some people may say that ‘Annabeth may not know Percy’s jealousy about Luke’, or that ‘Percy was kind of attracted to Rachel and maybe Annabeth was just reacting to that’, or that ‘Rachel may have provoked Annabeth in The Battle of the Labyrinth’. Annabeth does this passive aggressive thing a lot-folding her arms and walking out on Percy- and even cries, which indirectly makes Percy feel bad and a jerk and I was like, There’s absolutely no need for you to feel apologetic, Percy.
'Annabeth stood next to me. She had pulled her owl helmet low over her face, but I could tell her eyes were red. “Will you help me?” I asked. “That’s what I do,” she said miserably. “I help my friends.” I felt like a complete jerk. I wanted to pull her aside and explain that I didn’t mean for Rachel to be here, that it wasn’t my idea, but we had no time.' –The Last Olympian.
Now, what if things were reversed? What if Percy was the one being passive aggressive and Annabeth was the one being cool, calm, and collected? What would the readers think? Please, let me know what you think in the comments if you wish to leave your views. And if you oppose my opinion, please tell me why if you wish. Thank you, and have a nice time on The Riordan Wiki.
Here are some theories:
Nico's neighbor Pietro, the one that went to Africa and came "back from Mussolini's African campaign in one piece, but after shelling Ethiopian civilians with mustard gas, his mind was never the same." might have been a love interest of Nico. Let's go through the facts we know that then we think he knew he was gay. He seemed to be close to Pietro and when he came back not mentally stable he seemed to really care. Maybe it will come up in the Solangelo book.
Rachel's hairbrush is magic since it hit a literal titan's eye I think there must be some kind of magic or something special about it. If Hephaestus' godliness rubbed off on the tissue/Athena's dress, why can't Kronos' titanliness rub off on her hairbrush?
When Percy and Jason were controlled by the Eidolons they regained consciousness. If they wanted to kill each other and Piper stopped them, they could easily just stab her or something it's not like the Eidolons are such gentlemen or anything.
That's all, for now, more might come soon so be sure to check it out.

So we all know rachel and the blue hairbrush, but here is something i noticed recently. So Why does rachel, a girl with super curly red hair, have a hairbrush??? If you didnt know already people with curly hair do not really brush their hair. It’s not a hygiene thing it’s cause they literally cant. I have two friends with the same hair type as rachel and cant physically brush their hair, even after getting out of the shower.
So why would rachel even have a hairbrush? It makes sense that she would have a hairbrush cause what if she straightens in or whatever. But she doesn’t use it. So why would she take the one thing she never uses on this huge quest?
I had a theory that it might have been like annabeth’s or something, but she has curly hair too and likely can’t brush her hair all that much with it either….
What do u guys think?
This feels like a plot hole, but also something more…
