Everyone always talks about Fierrochase and Percabeth...
But there is an even greater ship
Jack x Rachel's Blue Hairbrush
Truly, there is no contest, no?
I can hear Patroclus and Achilles trembling in the distance....

Seriously, I gotta stop posting about MC...
Jack is annoying. He's a disco sword who sings pop songs, moons over hot female swords, and glows 24/7. But, he also saves Magnus's butt several times.
I'm gonna see what would happen, and how many times Magnus would die, if Jack had been replaced by a regular sword. And this is only for the Sword of Summer.
Since a lot of each scenario changes the course of the story, I just took separate events and stated what would happen for each of them.
Surt's nose wouldn't have been cut off, and since this new sword doesn't fight on its own, he probably wouldn't have been stabbed. Magnus probably wouldn't have had the guts to fight Surt if he knew that the sword was just a regular one. He wouldn't have gone to Valhalla. Surt would probably kill him.
This sword wouldn't have given Eitri Junior and co. some good makeovers. The sword probably wouldn't have set fear into the hearts of their pursuers, and the bazookas, tanks, and other weapons would have killed Magnus again.
The giantess who was trying to drown Thor wouldn't have been killed, as I doubt Magnus would have precise enough aim or enough strength, even being an einherji, to get the sword inside her nostrils and kill her. Thor would drown. Marvin might have killed Magnus and his friends, or the gods would. Anyway, if Thor drowned, then next, the giantess would target them. And they would probably die.
Gjalp and Griep wouldn't have died a sword-up-your-nose death either. Magnus would probably be killed again.
Since this regular inanimate sword isn't destined to cut Fenris's bonds, Fenris wouldn't be free, or half-free, but that said, no flying swords would be around to rebind him. Either Magnus goes in and binds Fenris himself (dead) or they just don't bind him, meaning his bonds might someday loosen enough for him to escape (also death).
Surt, again. Magnus' sword wouldn't rip a hole in the cosmos/air/whatever and send him and the rest of the fire giants back to Muspellheim. Surt and the fire giants would have just kept on fighting. The three Valkyries were dead. The einherjar were spent. Surt would probably kill them.
...and that's all! There's probably more instances where Magnus would have died, but those are just off the top of my head, and there's already 6. Not to mention that Magnus uses a standard-issue sword in Valhalla and probably dies every single time. He's hopeless without Jack.
Well, that's my opinion! Feel free to agree or disagree! I'm all for discussion, I have nothing else to do.
I know I know. I have talked about this before. Some of you won't remember it tho. Anyway can one of the mods take the Jack page out of the Magnus chase bookmark and replace it with Sumerbrader (idk how to spell it) because the state of Jack's page is depressing. Thank you.
Ok, so I don't think anyone other than Jack belts out pop songs 24/7, but who do you think would relate to him the/want to hang out with him the most? And what do you think would happen if they MET?
Personally I think it would be Leo (what? There's all those 'the seven listen to the radio' memes...), but what do you think?
When someone says Nico... *clap clap clap* Good for you.
Hey guys! I’m going to rank three random weapons based on their pros and cons. Hope you enjoy!
1.) Jack (Sumarbrander)
No Need For Skill in Combat
Can help summon the Power of Frey
”Sharpest Blade in the 9 worlds”
Can speak and understand human language (friendship)
Turns into Pendant Form (easy access)
Tracker (tracked Thor)
Can fly the wielder
Can Open Portals to Other Worlds
You feel the exhaustion afterwards
Obsessed with “lady swords” and singing
Destined to kill Frey
I was debating whether or not this should be lower since the cons are cons, like knowing that your sword will betray at Ragnarok or feeling the pain and exhaustion every time you touch him. But researching more about all of the pros, there are way more pros than cons and while the cons may be severe, the amount of stuff that Jack can do is just so much so he’s gonna have to take the top spot.
2.) Riptide (Anaklusmos)
Turns into a Pen (easy access)
Returns to Pocket
Can actually be used as a pen
Good for Close Combat
“Cursed Blade” (Long Bad History)
Can’t hurt mortals
Draws Power from Water
I thought about putting Riptide in third place just because it isn’t very impressive on its own especially compared to the other two weapons. But I decided to put it in second place partly because I really love that we get to go on this journey with Percy and that Riptide is always there. Also, upon further research, Riptide doesn’t have many cons as well and there were more pros than I initially thought. Anyways, the fact that it has been with Percy for so long was just enough to edge into second place. The situationals are also there since if you aren’t a child of Poseidon or have any connection to water, you may have a harder time wielding the sword. And if the offenders are mortals, you basically have no self defense.
Can Turn into a Sword
Can Turn into a Javelin
Can Turn into a Coin (easy access)
Not durable (?)
I wanted to put this in second place because of the fact that you get two weapons in one. But a deal-breaker was definitely that we barely got to see any of it before it got destroyed. I think it was his personal weapon for a long time so it isn’t not durable, it’s just it gets destroyed within the first book that we see it with.
That’s all for the rankings, if you were to rank them, what order would you give them and why?
Also here is a little rant I have
Honestly it kinda sucks that when I first open this wiki, I see posts that criticize so many different characters and even Rick sometimes. I got into the books because I wanted to go into this fun and cool world where we could go on quests and gods and goddesses were alive. Now we’re hating/ criticizing or whatever you want to call it left and right and I get that it’s cool that we have grown and can have different opinions. It’s just kinda sad. I wish that it could be about the magic the books gave us again and not about how “horrible” Rick is at writing. That’s the end of my rant.
Have a good day/night! Also tell me if you want a part 2. 💖
