Alviss is a dwarf who was promised Thor’s daughter, Thurd, in marriage.

History

Alviss was promised the hand of Thurd in marriage. However, her father, Thor, changed his mind at the last minute. So he asks the wise dwarf a series of questions, like what names creatures referred Heaven, the moon and etc. to, until the sun rises and petrifies Alviss.

Alviss, having water poured on him, depetrified and planned to kill Thor for revenge of the petrification. He planned to swing down from a rope and bash Thor with a club when he comes by Nidavellir on his jog through the Nine Worlds. However just as he goes in for the kill, he is petrified again by Blitzen, who was warned by Mimir, with a portable tanning bed. His rope then snaps as he swings and he flies off into a river.
