Aztlán is the mythical realm of the Mexica Gods and the original place of the people of the Southern Mexica Empire.

History

In Aztlán, there is a place of seven caves called Chicomoztoc. Each cave is home to one of the Nahua tribes: Xochimilca, Tlahuica, Acolhua, Tlaxcalteca, Tepaneca, Chalca, and Mexica.[1]

When most of the remaining population of Mesoamerica converted away from the Aztec pantheon, the Mexica Gods lost a significant source of power and retreated to Aztlán.

The Fire Keeper

When it was discovered that worshipers of Tlaltecuhtli, the Mexica earth goddess, have been abducting young godborns, Ixtab mentioned Aztlán when talking about the Mexica.
