The Basmu Serpent is a a large serpent from Mesopotamian mythology.

City of the Plague God[]

Mo and Sikander Aziz encounter the Basmu Serpent in the Sea of Tiamat after the brothers retrieve the Flower of Immortality. After nearly getting eaten, Sik uses the magic net he obtained from Gilgamesh to tangle the serpent up. His plan works and the serpent starts to sink.

Fury of the Dragon Goddess[]

As Lugal works to resurrect Tiamat, the Basmu Serpent emerges in London and kills the Prime Minister on live TV. Dumuzi later tells Sik that the serpent hasn't yet fully established itself in this reality and so its blinking in and out of existence.

Description[]

The Basmu Serpent is over twenty miles long with spikes running along it’s back and scales missing to reveal scared flesh under. It’s mouth is wide enough to swallow the Empire State Building and contains hundreds of smaller heads within it.

  • Some myths say it is terrestrial with wings.
  • Its Norse counterpart is Jormungand.
