Sikander Aziz series[]
City of the Plague God[]
As Sikander Aziz races to Manhattan General Hospital on Ishtar's Chariot, he runs into Nergal, who taunts him for trying to cure his plague by that point, as he approaches a storm cloud. When the plague god notices the jar of cure, he demands Sik hand it over and stabs the boy in the thigh and shoulder when he refuses. Sik makes it to the top of the cloud and jumps in, mixing the cure with the rain in the hopes of curing the entire borough. He crashes onto the asphalt below and is found by Belet Amari. The two are surrounded by dozens of poxies and the plague god as it starts to rain and they are unaffected by it. However after a few seconds, the plague dogs are cured and Nergal starts to evaporate as his immortality is wearing off. As Belet is about to finish him off, he evaporates completely.
In the weeks that follow, Sik's immortality strengthens due to a double exposure to the desert hybrid and he becomes known as the Hero of Manhattan. Con artists would sell leftover rain water for medicinal purposes just outside Mo's. Unlike Sik, the rest of the residents of Manhattan did not become immortal, with a few testing it by jumping off bridges that resulted in serious injuries, due to the performance being too diluted.
