Cynocephali

Cynocephali (singular: cynocephalus) are dog-headed monsters. Octavian recruited them from the Triumvirate Holdings for the Second Demigod Civil War, despite their dubious loyalties.

History[]

The cynocephali were an Indian and African tribe of dog-headed men. The name cynocephali means dog-headed, from kuôn, a dog, and kephalos, head.

Centuries ago, the Romans established an uneasy truce with them.

The Heroes of Olympus[]

The Blood of Olympus[]

The cynocephali were one of the Octavian's summoned allies. An army of them could be seen encamped along the legion's forces.

The Trials of Apollo[]

The Dark Prophecy[]

Cynocephali are seen at Commodus' naming ceremony rehearsal and when he attacks the Waystation.

The Tyrant's Tomb[]

A sizable minority of friendly cynocephali are shown living in New Rome. And later, a pack of enemy cynocephali take part in the Battle of San Francisco Bay.

The Tower of Nero[]

A few cynocephali are seen serving under Nero at his tower.

The Sun and the Star: A Nico di Angelo Adventure[]

Nico di Angelo and Will Solace fight multiple cynocephali during their time in Tartarus.
