A Death Ceremony is a ritual to put someone in a near death state of seventy two hours to hide them from the gods. However there are many dangerous risks.
In order to undergo a death ceremony, one must gain permission from and Ixtab before having a death magician oversee the ritual. They put one a death mask and speak to the spirit of the person the mask was made for and speak to them for two minutes, after which the dead blesses them. Their body breaks and heals itself until the individual is just alive.
Risks, limitations, and Side Effects
If the person who underwent the ritual does not return to Xib'alb'a when the seventy-two hours are up, they will die permanently. They are also weak after going through the ceremony. While it can mask anyone from a god unless they are right in front of one, death gods can easily find someone who has undergone a death ceremony.
