Dr. Sharma is Percy Jackson's fourth period history teacher at Alternative High School. Percy suspects that Dr. Sharma is actually a monster because she compliments him in class, something that is rare to happen to Percy, but he reserves judgment on her.

When Percy returns to school hoping to learn more about Hecuba from Dr. Sharma, he is surprised to find that the teacher is absent and that she has been temporarily replaced by Chiron, causing Percy to think that the centaur is scouting out a possible demigod the same way that Chiron had replaced his original Yancy Academy Latin teacher for that purpose. However, Chiron reveals that it's just a coincidence and that Paul Blofis had helped the centaur to get onto the district's substitute list.

Dr. Sharma returns to work by Halloween and is disappointed that Percy hasn't yet picked a forgotten historical figure for his project. When Percy mentions that he's thinking of Gale from Greece, Dr. Sharma is confused before apparently realizing that Percy had passed the forgotten portion of the assignment and tells the demigod that she's looking forward to reading it.

Trivia

• In Wrath of the Triple Goddess, Percy suspects that Dr. Sharma is actually a monster when she compliments him when Percy answers a question. However, Percy decides not to judge her unless the teacher attacks him as some of his best friends are monsters.
