Dru Cardenas is a freshman student at Harding-Pencroft Academy. He is a member of House Shark. He was a part of the crew on Varuna and Nautilus.
Daughter of the Deep[]
Dru is present on the Varuna during the destruction of HP. When the fighters of Land Institute surprise attack them, Gemini Twain tosses Dru a Leyden gun, which he promptly starts shooting. However, his shot arcs towards Nelinha and both of them go down against the intruders. Eventually when Caleb South holds Ana hostage Dru trains his gun on him, and when she breaks free Dru helps haul him away for interrogation. He is present during the whole meeting and appears to act tempted to fire on their captive.
Aboard the Varuna on their way to Lincoln Base, Dru helps do maintenance and is left on first watch, then does work at comms station and mans the Leyden cannons. He and the rest of his classmates join the forces of Lincoln Base and plan to take the sub on a test-drive but quickly receive word that the Aronnax had found them. Dru boards the Nautilus along with his crew and takes charge of securing weapons room. As the sub descends erratically Dru yells his report that the ductwork was releasing putrid slime and tries his best to keep the Nautilus functioning.
Dru is presumably present during their siege to reclaim Lincoln Base from Land Institute.
