A duendecillos.

A duendecillos is a nature spirit that can enter one's dreams. They reside in enchanted forests.

Description

A duendecillos is small and gnome like with green hair, dark skin, and freckles that sparkle in the sunlight. Their Enders resent humanity and will protect their forests at any cost. However a small number of them are helpful and act as guides. They speak in high, squeaky voices.

Paola Santiago and the Forest of Nightmares

After Paola Santiago is bitten by a Cadejo and passes out later that day, a duendecillos comes to her in her dream and brings her to a pond, telling the girl to get in. When Pao arrives in Oregon with Naomi, they encounter the one she saw in her dreams and she reveals her name is Estrella. Just then more show up. The leader tells them to leave but Pao says they need help. Estrella informs them her kind don’t trust humans, but the leader says they don’t trust Pao's “other half”. They decide to pass judgment later and look Pao, Naomi, and Estrella in a tree. After Pao, Naomi, and the Niños de la Luz set a fire in their holding cell, they let the prisoners out just as The Hitchhiker arrives. All but Estrella cower as the niños attack the ghost. After the Hitchiker is expelled from the land of the living when their summoner leaves, they lead the niños to Beto.
