“ | Oh! Monster. It's an odd word, considering my grandmother is your great-grandmother, and this has always been a family story. But... to my eye, the demigod is the more dangerous creature. Disruptive. Violent. If I exist for anything, it is to stand in the way of monsters like you. | ” |

Percy Jackson and the Olympians (TV series)[]
Season One[]
“I Plunge to My Death”[]
While Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, and Grover Underwood are at a train, they encounter Echidna, who also has the Chimera with her (the latter being in the form of a chihuahua because of the Mist). At the Gateway Arch, she quickly isolates Percy from his friends and pits him against her monstrous daughter at the top of the arch. Percy barely manages to escape after being poisoned by the Chimera's tail and falls into the water below, to the taunts of Echidna, but while in the water his injury is healed.[1]
Appearance[]
Echidna is only seen in her human form, where she has the appearance of a middle-aged woman with brown hair and eyes.
Personality[]
Echidna held a deep hatred towards the demigods, seeing them as disruptive and violent creatures, going far to say that the demigods are the real monsters instead of herself and her children, seeing her purpose as stand in their way.
Echidna deep loved her children, as she was horrified when Annabeth stabbed the baby Chimera and was genuinely concerned about her well-being.
Abilities[]
Echidna is very old and powerful, stronger than most monsters. She is also one of the very few entities capable of creating new monsters.
- Immortality: Echidna was immortal and could not die of disease or old age.
- Invulnerability: Conventional weapons and most mystic ones did not have any effect on Echidna.
- Monster Birthing: As the Mother of All monsters, Echidna can give birth to them.
- Telekinesis: With a flick of her fingers, Echidna was able to pierce a massive hole through the floor of the Gateway Arch.
- Telepathy: Echidna "speaks" in Annabeth's mind when confronting her in the Gateway Arch.
