Uma Thurman is an American actress who played Medusa in the film adaptation. She has had a career in modeling in the past, for Glamour and Vogue at the age of fifteen. She has been nominated for an Academy Award, and has won a Golden Globe Award.

Uma Karuna Thurman, daughter of Robert Thurman and Nena Thurman. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on April 29, 1970. Uma grew up in Amherst, Massachusetts. She left boarding school at the age of fifteen, to be an actress. She later moved to New York to be in more movies.
