Yancy Academy is the private boarding school that Percy Jackson attended in the sixth grade during the The Lightning Thief. Known classes that can be taken in this school include Pre-algebra, English, and Latin. It is a school for troubled kids, but many of the students were from well-off, rich families unlike Percy. It is well constructed, with lush pine trees all around. The school is located somewhere in the upper Hudson Valley, and while the exact location is never specified, Yancy is said to have a view of the Hudson River.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians[]

The Lightning Thief[]

After the field trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Percy Jackson spends his time thinking about the incident of murdering a fury. After Mr. Nicoll asked why Percy didn't read for spelling tests, he got angry and called him an 'old sot' which ended his schoolyears in this academy. He then started studying for his finals. While studying for his Latin finals, he tries to seek Mr. Brunner's help (who was Chiron in disguise). When he enters Mr. Brunner's cabin, he overhears Brunner and Grover Underwood talking that gave him clues about the master bolt's disappearance which he understood later only. After finishing his finals, he departs to go to his apartment.
