A gwisin, also known as a hungry ghost, are the spirits of those who died regretting not doing something before dying. Once their business is completed, they will transform into their spirit animal and department for the spirit realm.

The Last Fallen Star[]
In an attempt to learn more about the skirmish with the Horangi, Riley Oh and Emmett Harrison are joined by Taeyo to try and contact Emmett's mother. They fail to find her but find the grandmother of Jennie Byun wanting to deliver a last message to her granddaughter. Later Emmett's mother possesses the body of Hattie Oh to tell her son that he is loved and how she wished she could see him grow up.
