History[]

Percy Jackson and the Olympians (TV series)[]

Season One[]

A God Buys Us Cheeseburgers[]

After Percy Jackson sits in a golden chair and becomes trapped in order to get Ares' Shield, Annabeth Chase tries desperately to free them. Hephaestus reveals himself and is surprised Ares and Aphrodite did not spring his trap. He asks who they are but Annabeth ignores him. He plays a few notes and a ladder to safety appears and introduces himself. Annabeth continues to ignore him as he talks about how Athena has recently been displeased with her. The daughter of Athena breaks down crying and says that Percy is better than how her mother was, and she does not want to continue down Athena's path. This moves Hephaestus, who was only intending on trapping Ares, and frees Percy. Hephaestus tells the two of them that 'some of us don't like being that way either' and promises to put in a good word with Athena, before vanishing.

Appearance[]

Hephaestus looks like a middle aged man with unruly grey and white hair, beard, and mustache. He wears overall and glasses. He is paralyzed on his left side and uses a gold cane to walk. [1]

Personality[]

Hephaestus is an 'outsider' from the Olympian family and behaves less like a royal and does not involve himself with the drama of Olympus. He is highly intelligent and busies himself with inventions. He created an entire amusement park full of entertainment and traps. Unlike other gods he is reasonable as seen when he listens to Annabeth's pleas. He is also seemingly sympathetic.

Abilities[]

  • Technokinesis: As the god of blacksmiths, Hephaestus has unbelievable mechanical abilities which are second to none.
    • Enhanced Forging: Hephaestus can build any kind of machine out of any kind of material, as well as animate it and make it do things to suit his needs.
    • Machine Sensitivity: Hephaestus can instinctively sense faults in a metal ore.
  • Pyrokinesis: As the God of Fire, Hephaestus has absolute control and divine authority over fire, heat, and lava.
  • Geokinesis (limited): As God of volcanoes, lava, and magma, he has a certain level of control over earth as volcanoes are connected to earth, and magma, which is just underground lava, are rocks at a high level of heat.
  • Magmakinesis: As the god of fire, he has control over magma.
