Hindu Gods are the gods and goddesses in Hinduism and/or Hindu mythology. The terms and epithets for deity within the diverse traditions of Hinduism vary, and include Deva, Devi, Ishvara, Bhagavan and Bhagavathi. They are the main gods of the Pandava Quintet, a series written by Roshani Chokshi published by Rick Riordan Presents. Chokshi focuses on the Vedic gods from Rig Veda in the series.[1]

According to Krithika P. Shah, the gods were numerous, but they didn’t stay as one person all the time, sometimes they were reincarnated.[2]

List of Hindu Gods[]

  • Aranyani - Goddess of forests and animals
  • Ashvins (Nasatya and Dasra) - Twin horsemen gods of medicine and healing who symbolize sunrise and sunset
  • Brahma - God of creation, one of the Hindu Trinity
  • Chhaya - Goddess of shadows
  • Chitragupta - God tasked with keeping records of each human's life
  • Durga - Goddess of victory
  • Dharma Raja - God of death and justice
  • Ganesh - Elephant-faced god of wisdom and new beginnings
  • Ganga - Goddess of the Ganges River
  • Garuda - King of the birds
  • Indra - King of heaven and god of thunder and lightning
  • Kamadeva - God of love
  • Kartikeya - God of war
  • Krishna - God of compassion and tenderness; the eighth incarnation of Vishnu
  • Kubera - God of riches and the ruler of Lanka
  • Lakshmi - Goddess of wealth and good fortune
  • Mohini - Goddess of enchantment; one of Vishnu's incarnation
  • Parvati - Goddess of fertility, love and devotion
  • Rama - The seventh incarnation of Vishnu
  • Rati - The Hindu goddess of love and carnal desire
  • Ratri - Goddess of the night
  • Revanta - God of horsemanship
  • Ritus - Gods and goddesses of the six seasons of the Indian calendar
  • Saranyu - Goddess of clouds
  • Saraswati - Goddess of knowledge, music, art, wisdom, and learning.
  • Shiva - God of destruction, one of the Hindu Trinity
  • Usha - Goddess of the dawn
  • Varuni - Goddess of wine and prophecy
  • Vishnu - God of preservation, one of the Hindu Trinity
  • Vishwakarma - God of architecture 
  • Yamuna - Goddess of the Yamuna River; twin of Dharma Raja

Navagraha[]

The Navagraha are nine gods of the planets of the solar system. They are said to be the heavenly bodies that inspire humans.

  • Surya - God of the sun
  • Chandra - God of the moon
  • Budha - Lord of Mercury
  • Shukra - Lord of Venus
  • Mangala - Lord of Mars
  • Bṛhaspati - Lord of Jupiter
  • Shani - Lord of Saturn and god of justice
  • Rahu-ketu - The ascending and descending lunar nodes

Vasu[]

The Vasus are eight elemental deities and servants of Vishnu.[3] Surya and Chandra are also Vasus.

  • Agni - God of fire
  • Dyaus - God of the sky
  • Nakstrani - God of the stars[4]
  • Prithvi - Goddess of the Earth
  • Varuna - God of the ocean and waters
  • Vayu - God of the wind
