Ithaca is an island located in the Ionian Sea, in Greece, with an area of 120 square kilometers (46 sq mi) and a little more than three thousand inhabitants. It lies off the northeast coast of Kefalonia and to the west and within sight of continental Greece. Modern Ithaca is generally identified with Homer's Ithaca, the home of Odysseus, whose delayed return to the island is one of the elements of The Odyssey's plot.

Jason Grace, Piper McLean, and Annabeth Chase are on their way to Odysseus' palace which is located in Ithaca. It is there that Jason, Annabeth and Piper acquire information from the suitors about the location of The Giants. Jason is stabbed by the ghost of a former Roman praetor, Michael Varus.
