Jid al-Abbas is the husband of Bibi al-Abbas, the father of Ayesha al-Abbas, and the maternal grandfather of Samirah al-Abbas.

History[]

Jid and his wife Bibi were born in Iraq and immigrated to America when Saddam Hussein took power. They had a daughter named Ayesha who became a doctor, but she was rebellious and Jid and Bibi worried about her. They eventually became grandparents with the birth of their granddaughter Samirah and took her in after Ayesha died. He and his wife arranged a marriage between their granddaughter and Amir Fadlan

Sam mentions Jid along with Bibi throughout the book. They also ground her when she returns from Jotunheim.

The Hammer of Thor[]

Jid, his wife, Amir and Abdel Fadlan were seen in a video of Alex Fierro's death due to his granddaughter's poor camera skills. The four are gathered in their apartment after Loki told them what their granddaughter really was and revealing the Nine Worlds to them. By the time the quest for the hammer was over, he, his wife and Abdel forgot about the revelation.

His granddaughter mentions him when talking about his and Bibi’s fiftieth wedding anniversary.

Appearance[]

Magnus described Jid as a barrel-chested man with a white beard, looking like Santa Claus of Earnest Hemingway.

Personality[]

Jid is described as a Muslim traditionalist. He cares for his granddaughter as he was worried when she did not return home. He also took into account Sam's opinion of what she wanted in a husband.

Trivia[]

  • Jid and his wife are the second set of grandparents to take in their granddaughter after the death of her mother/ their daughter. The first being Mr. and Mrs. Faust who took in Sadie Kane after the death of her mother Ruby.
