Not Part of Riordanverse

The following article/section is from the The Spirit Glass continuity under Rick Riordan Presents and not the Riordanverse canon.

Leo (real name Aurelio Moretto the Second) is the ghost of an aspiring author and the son Flordeliza de León.

History[]

In life, Leo was Aurelio Moretto the Second, the son of Flordeliza de León and Aurelio Moretto. Leo loved cooking and telling stories, desiring to grow up to become a writer. However, led by Padre Fransico, the locals attacked the family home and burned Leo and his father alive, and his devastated mother burned their home and the local town down in grief, killing herself in the process.

After becoming a ghost, Leo waited for someone to join him to go to the Beyond, but no one ever came. While most ghosts resemble a decaying body, Leo struck a deal with an unknown individual to maintain his appearance in life. However, in return Leo gave up all of his memories and as such, Leo forgot who he was waiting for to go to the Beyond with him. All that Leo could remember was his own name which the merchant offered to trade for the knowledge of who he was waiting for, but Leo refused to give up his name as it was too precious. Instead, Leo decided to travel, meet people and write a book which he did for around a hundred years. Leo also began working as a spirit guide to help get inspiration for his book, having explored the spirit realms for his book which gave Leo a knowledge of their layout.

The Spirit Glass[]

Corazon Lopez befriends Leo who acts as her spirit guide in Corazon's efforts to remake Flordeliza de León's soul key and bring her parents back. At one point, Leo displays a talent in cooking, helping to brew a spring breeze as part of getting a blessing to get Flordeliza's key remade. Corazon expresses the desire to bring Leo back to life as well, wanting her friend at her side.

During the final confrontation with Flordeliza's ghost, Corazon discovers from the ghost's soul key that Leo is actually the light that Flordeliza has been looking for the entire time: her son Aurelio Moretto the Second. Upon being reunited with Leo and recognizing him as her son, Flordeliza becomes peaceful and passes on to the Beyond with Leo following his mother after a final goodbye with Corazon. Corazon briefly sees Leo and his mother reuniting with his father in the Beyond through the mirror.

Abilities[]

  • Temporary Corporealization: Leo has the ability to turn himself corporeal for brief periods of time.
  • Storytelling: Leo is a great storyteller, having wanted to become a writer in life.
  • Cooking: Leo is extremely talented at cooking, something that he had learned from his mother in life and that he enjoyed doing just as much as storytelling. As ghost, Leo, despite lacking memories of his human life, ended up helping the diwata to cook up a spring breeze, something that they were struggling with. This is something that was quite an accomplishment given what the diwata accomplished with their cooking and how hard it is to do. The diwata offered Leo the chance to be their assistant if he chose not to move on due to how talented he showed himself to be at it.
