Yancy Academy takes a class trip the museum with Mrs. Dodds and Mr. Brunner. Nancy Bobofit was teasing Grover and unknowingly, Percy wielded the water in fountain she was near and dunked her in it. Mrs. Dodds came brought Percy into the back room of the museum, turned into her true form, a fury, and attacked him. Percy destroys Mrs. Dodds with Riptide.

Annabeth Chase and her friends from the School of Design mention that their new assignment is redesigning the Met, causing Percy to recall Alecto trying to kill him there. The only redesign that Percy can think of is building safe rooms and sword dispensers everywhere so that young demigods can survive monster attacks more easily. Annabeth's is to redesign it with glass panels to protect the artwork that's just sitting around in warehouses which people can also see the art through and to add beanbag chairs all throughout the museum in the place of the uncomfortable benches already there.
