New Rome University is a college in New Rome for Roman demigods and legacies.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians[]

The Chalice of the Gods[]

Both Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase plan to attend New Rome University after they graduate from high school. Poseidon reveals to his son that, due to the Pact of the Big Three, Percy is not supposed to exist and is thus technically ineligible for New Rome University. However, Poseidon gets Zeus to agree to grant Percy eligibility if he completes three new quests and gets godly letters of recommendation for each one. While Zeus had wanted it to be twenty-five quests, Poseidon had managed to talk his brother down to just three. In order to help his son out, Poseidon sets up the Nereid Eudora as Percy's guidance counselor at Alternative High School and Percy advertises his services for quests.

Percy's first quest proves to be from Ganymede whose chalice was stolen by Geras. With the help of Annabeth and Grover Underwood, Percy is able to get the chalice back and return it to the god in the midst of Zeus' brunch for Rhea, although Eudora reveals that he could've gotten the other two letters from Iris and Hebe for his role in aiding them if he'd thought of it ahead of time. Ganymede gives Percy a blank sheet of paper on which Percy composes his first recommendation letter with the help of Annabeth, Sally Jackson and Paul Blofis and Percy and Annabeth plan to continue their work on getting Percy the remaining two that he needs.

The Trials of Apollo[]

The Hidden Oracle[]

Description[]

New Rome University has a bell tower. The rooftop has precariously slanted red tiles. The university's library rivals that of the temples. Sunlight streams into the main reading room through the oculus, the round skylight in the center of the gilded dome ceiling. Colorful tile mosaics of deities, famous Romans, and mythical creatures decorate the walls. One candlelit hallway is paved with stones engraved with the names of lost heroes. Some of the stones look worn and ancient, but others are brand new. The library's shelves are chock-full of books and scrolls. The dorm rooms have bunk beds.

Admission[]

To get into New Rome University, a Greek demigod has to pass all their high school courses and score well on the SAT. Also, they have to pass the DSTOMP, or The Demigod Standard Test of Mad Powers, which is an exam for Roman demigods. Most of the content of the DSTOMP is unknown except that Apollo wrote the music and poetry analysis sections. According to the Nereid Eudora, New Rome University's usual human requirements include test scores, official transcripts and up-to-date psycho-educational evaluations.

However, children of the Big Three are different due to the Pact of the Big Three which means that they aren't supposed to exist. As a result, Percy Jackson is rendered ineligible for admission until Poseidon negotiates a deal with Zeus where Percy will get three godly letters of recommendation for doing three new quests for the gods. While Zeus had originally wanted it to be twenty-five quests and letters, Poseidon was able to talk his brother down to three and set up the Nereid Eudora as Percy's guidance counselor at Alternative High School in order to help him out.

Trivia[]

  • People are not encouraged to be on the rooftop of the bell tower.
  • Dormitories are required for all freshmen and aren't co-ed.
    • The dorms are segregated by gender and located on opposite sides of the campus.
  • Poseidon reveals in The Chalice of the Gods that because Percy was born after the Pact of the Big Three and is therefore not supposed to exist, Zeus proclaimed him ineligible to attend New Rome University with Annabeth. To make up this debt, Percy had to first receive three recommendation letters from different gods before the Winter Solstice by going on new quests. Zeus initially wanted twenty-five letters, but Poseidon managed to talk him down to three for Percy's sake.
