I don't need to be bored with the details of my genius.

–Nikita to Aru Shah in Aru Shah and the Tree of Wishes.

Nikita is the Pandava sister of Aru Shah, Mini, and Brynne Rao. She is the reincarnation of Nakula, her twin, Sheela, is also a Pandava.

Pandava Quintet[]

Aru Shah and the Song of Death[]

Nikita and Sheela appear in a dream with Aru Shah, they had an argument about who got there first. Suddenly, Sheela got a vision of the future, she concluded was going to save them next year. They both said together that Aru will find out soon enough.

Aru Shah and the Tree of Wishes[]

Nikita and Sheela are rescued by the Pandavas and Aiden and get claimed by the Ashvin Twins. They discover the tree to be a fake one, and although they can't accompany the Potatoes on their unofficial quest, they visit the other Pandava sisters in their dreams.

Appearance[]

Nikita is described as looking about ten years old, with dark skin and her hair woven into dozens of tiny braids. She has ice blue eyes that turn green when she uses her powers.

At the end of Aru Shah and the Song of Death, she wore a fancy head-wrap. At the beginning of Tree of Wishes, she is wearing a flower-print dress with a shiny blazer over it, as well as a small tiara.

When claimed, she gains a green heart on her throat.

Personality[]

Nikita is haughty, stuck-up and somewhat dismissive of the Pandavas. She doesn't trust them at first. She takes a lot of pride in all her designs and her clothes.

Despite that, Nikita is caring and loves her sister a lot. After the Pandava sisters save Sheela and her from their own dream, she starts becoming more loose and comfortable around them.

Abilities[]

  • Pandava Mind Link: Nikita is able to communicate telepathically with her sisters. It can be blocked out, and typically it's easier the better you know somebody. Nikita so far has used the Pandava mind link with Aru, Brynne, and Mini in their dreams, and once in her thoughts.

  • Chlorokinesis: Nikita can manipulate and create plants of all sorts. In particular, black vines and various flowers. She has great control over them.
  • Dream Travel: Nikita, along with Sheela, can contact the other Pandava sisters across long distances through dreams.
  • Tracing Mark: When she was claimed, Nikita was underage, so she got a green heart on her throat that Otherworld authorities and others can use to track her.

  • Etymology[]

    • Nikita is a name of Greek origin, meaning 'unconquered'. In Hindi, however, it means 'of the earth'. 'Of the earth' could refer to her powers and control over plants.
    • Jagan means 'Universe' or 'World'. It maybe because it is similar to the Hindi word 'Jagat', which means the same.

    Trivia[]

    • She is bilingual, speaking both English and Guyanese Creole.
    • Nikita is a brilliant fashionista. She says that pretty clothes can be armor and makes lots of new clothes. According to her sister Sheela, she can't keep the same clothes when they keep moving from house to house, and so she taught herself to make new clothes as armor.
    • She was initially distrustful of the Pandava sisters and Aiden.
