Winston Chu-RR Not Part of Riordanverse

The following article/section is from the Winston Chu continuity under Rick Riordan Presents and not the Riordanverse canon.

Philippa Chu is the older sister of Winston Chu. She is currently in a relationship with Monroe McFee.

History[]

Philippa was the first born of three children. When she was at a fair, Philippa was trying to win a stuffed elephant, but ended up winning a stuffed moose instead. Fortunately, Monroe McFee won the elephant for her and switched it out with the moose. Her father would tell her stories with the elephant using funny voices.

After her father was killed by friendly fire, her grades started to suffer and she dropped out. She eventually got her GED and attended San Francisco University, but soon dropped out.

Winston Chu Versus the Whimsies[]

Philippa gets dinner ready and her mother cleans up from work and Winston plays with Coco. As they eat dinner, Winston asks his mother who of her three children resembles their father the most. His mother talks about traits all three children share with their father, but things start to get heated after Winston jokes about Philippa dropping out of both high school and college. Soon her mother’s old boss, Ned Gu, arrives with a banana cream pie, her father’s favorite, and her mother asks Winston to get a lamp from upstairs for him.

The following day, as she is reading a romance novel, Winston’s comes to her room and tries and fails to convince her to talk with Monroe. Soon Monroe and Coco arrive and Monroe reveals he gave Philippa her favorite stuffed elephant that he switched out with a stuffed moose she won instead. This catches Philippa's attention and talks with Monroe. Soon everyone realizes the stuffed elephant is gone and she and Coco find the broom and dustpan.

The following day she has an interview with the Military Entrance Processing Station and returns home just as her mother and Coco head out for a play date. As she makes dinner, Winston tries to convince her that Coco is possessed and asks Philippa about her interview with the Military Entrance Processing Station and she becomes suspicious as his friends and Monroe arrives. Monroe gives Winston an ukulele and talks with Philippa as Winston take with his friends.

After her meeting and Coco return from the play date after Coco flushed legos, the two women struggle to be put Coco to bed. Winston asks Philippa to sleep in her room that night and she reluctantly accepts. He asks her about the Military Entrance Processing Station and she reveals she was looking into Vic Fisher, the man who killed their father. Winston is shocked as Philippa reveals she got Vic's address in Lodi and will visit him in a few days. In the morning Winston finds the broom and dustpan in his closet despite leaving them in the laundry closet and begs her not to open it. Later that day, she and her mother argue over the car, her mother needing it for an interview as Philippa needing it to go to Lodi, as “Coco” asks for milk. The following day, she fails to speak with Vic, rather she finds his mother and gets his address, she plans on visiting him Saturday. Later, Philippa demands Winston help get ready for Mr. Gu, who is coming over for dinner. The Chu's help prepare the house and Mr. Gu arrives with a pie. As they eat, Winston's mother says the law firm she interviewed with is still deciding about Mr. Gu announces his plan to run for mayor. Winston suggests Philippa could help, but she kicks him under the table. As desert is brought out, her mother asks Winston to put “Coco” to bed. The following day she goes to the library with “Coco” and they come home with a book on poison.

That night, she is learning Arabic when Winston comes home. She says their mom called a physiatrist for him and she promises to get him out of it if he goes with her to Golden Gate Park to speak with Vic the next day. Winston agrees and he goes to bed. At ten-thirty the following morning, she wakes Winston and says they are meeting Vic in half an hour. He gets dressed and they drive to the park. It rains heavily but stops when they arrive. She and Winston meet up with Vic and Vic explains his story with their father. Vic says he and Philip were rivals in school before becoming friends. Vic followed him into the military despite Philip urging him to start a carpentry business. Vic says that when Philip died, he was tasked with guarding him Ashe spoke with two people who took over a school. Vic shot at one of the men as he reached into his pocket, later learning it was a picture of his kids, and Philip died in the fire fight. Vic explains that he tried to return their dad’s dog tags, but lost them. Winston and Philippa reveal they are wearing their father’s tags after they were mailed to them with no return address. Vic says he has no idea how they got them. Vic apologizes again and heads back to work. Afterwards she and Winston run into Monroe and Mav. As the four walk back to their cars, Monroe sings her favorite song, but she rejects his advances and Monroe accepts it.

In the morning, she watches “Coco” as her mother and brother go out. She decides to work for Mr. Gu and takes up classes. When the power goes out, “Coco” cowers in the corner as Philippa lights candles upon their return. Her mother and brother return soon after. When Winston gets gum stuck in Philippa's hair, her mother helps her get it out. When her mother finishes, the power comes back on. Upon returning to the living room, they see “Coco” with the lighter and they accuse Winston of giving it to her. He tries to explain that “Coco” snatched it from him, but her mother orders him to go to his room.

The following day, she applies for classes at San Francisco State and- to punish Winston for getting gum in her hair- she takes eggs she found in his backpack. Later on in the day, she and Monroe go to Boba Guys and they see two figures looking into the shop next door. Monroe tossed an egg at the front of the shop and they saw a door. They then throw an egg at the burglars and they turn into seagulls. Soon they are bitten by a fire hydrant and go to the hospital. She is released while Monroe is being kept for observation. She calls Winston to tell him about the event and asks her to pick him up She is waiting for him at the nurses office and they skateboard home. On the way, Philippa says she noticed something was off with Coco the previous night and that the broom and dustpan appeared in their closet. Soon after they arrive home, Mav appears and they head to the closet. Cowherd and Cloud Weaver manifest before them and asks for putty. Winston asks where Coco is and they reveal Mr. Pang is using her to pilot a flying canoe. As Philippa tries to process what the spirits said, they hear a knock on the door and Winston goes to answer it. Cassa as Bijal enter as the seagulls attack them. The go back to Winston’s room as Cowherd and Cloud Weaver explain that Mr. Pang is helping them build a bridge. They explain that he was once Mother Cloud Weaver’s favorite magpie stead, Sorrow, but he was jealous of his companion Mirth and tricked him to be caste out of the heavens. They also explain how Mr. Pang owes Cowherd a favor for stealing a tear and they wanted to have him help them. Winston shows them the belongings taken from his house in a box with his address and the sprits become enraged. They decide to work together, but the spirits leave soon after. Winston gets some putty and offers it to Cowherd and Cloud Weaver, who sweep it into the dustpan and the seven strategize. Soon Winston sees the mustache deliver the far seeing eyes and shows the others. The spirits tell them they would need to find someone they can offer him, and Winston suggests his father’s dog tags, which he thinks might have regained their energy. The spirits tell them to watch out for the were-bear and to not say Ariana Grande in front of the break-free cactus as it will dance and is poisonous. Winston tells Philippa to stay home to cover for him and his friends and keep an eye on Chang-Ah-Ling. After gathering supplies, Philippa wishes Winston and his friends luck and the spirits brush them into the store.

After Monroe brings Winston home, she takes Coco, in Chang-Ah-Ling, to her room. until their mother falls asleep. Winston smuggles Chang-Ah-Ling into her room and Cloud Weaver puts Coco and Chang-Ah-Ling back in their respective bodies before sending the doll to the shop. Could Weaver and Cowherd explain that Mr. Gu somehow nullified them when he entered the house and came to when he crashed. Philippa opens the window and the spirits leave as they thank Winston, who returns the hairpin, and vow to never forget his act of helping them.

A week later, the Chus to to Coit Tower to watch the sunset. Winston gives his mother a unicorn horn to honor his father and she tells Philippa, Winston, and Coco that they inherited their father’s loyalty, thoughtfulness, and long thumbs respectively.

Appearance[]

Philippa is a woman of Chinese descent in her late teens with long black hair she keeps tied back and dark eyes. She often wears red lipstick. When out of work, she often wore baggy sweatpants.

Personality[]

Philippa is often short tempered and overworked.
