–Poseidon to Sally Jackson in "We Find Out the Truth, Sort Of" |
Poseidon is the Greek god of the sea, storms, earthquakes, droughts, floods and horses. He is also one of the Big Three and the patron god of Corinth and his cabin in Camp Half-Blood.
History[]
Poseidon and several other gods are the children of the Titan Kronos. Over the centuries, the Olympians moved west to the countries that held the seats of their great power and influence. At some point, he and the goddess Athena began a rivalry.
According to Medusa, Poseidon told her that he loved her, but Athena declared that this had embarrassed her and punished her, turning Medusa into a gorgon. Eventually, Poseidon, Zeus and Hades swear an oath to no longer sire any more demigod children.
However, the deal was broken when Zeus had a daughter named Thalia, and some years later, Poseidon fall in love with the mortal woman Sally Jackson and they have one half-blood child, Percy Jackson. But he left her before their son was born and told her to send their child to Camp Half-Blood when he was old enough.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians (TV series)[]
Season One[]
After Zeus' Master Bolt disappeared, he immediately suspects Poseidon of having used his son Percy to steal it, and demands that it is returned by the Summer Solstice, or there would be a war. Poseidon, in turn, wants an apology for being suspected by the same date.
After Percy survives the attack during his first game of Capture the Flag at camp, Poseidon claimed him as his own son.
Poseidon waited to meet Percy in Santa Monica Beach until the Summer Solstice, but had to leave early to attend the solstice and start preparing for war with Zeus.
”The Prophecy Comes True”[]
After Percy returns the Master Bolt to Olympus, his son and Zeus get into an argument over Kronos's potential return. As Zeus is about to strike Percy, Poseidon arrives and saves him by surrendering to his brother. Poseidon begs Zeus to spare Zeus and compares him to Thalia. After conversing in Ancient Greek, Zeus backs down and calls a council of the gods before vanishing. He talks with Percy for the first time and reveals he knew they were talking about Kronos and reveals his mother taught him Ancient Greek. Percy asks Poseidon if gods can dream, which the god confirms, and asks if he dreams about Sally. Poseidon gives Percy a pearl and sends him to Camp Half-Blood.
