History[]

Founding[]

The early days of Riordan Wiki are confusing to say the least. The wiki (then known as "Olympians Wiki") was founded by Heradite, who only ever made three edits, in July of 2007. The wiki was eventually merged into "Percy Jackson Wiki" around December of 2007, which was then headed by Lettuceleaf. At this point, the wiki had slight growth, and user The avatar created a simple wordmark (logo). As time passed, the wiki again fell into the shadows until it was adopted by users Balistic Pve and R-rice1 in December of 2009. They reorganized the wiki and helped it grow. By now it was early 2010, and the wiki was booming as the The Lightning Thief movie was due to release soon.

Wiki Wars[]

Soon, user R-rice1 fell inactive, and Balistic Pve also grew less and less active. Around this time, Spring-June 2010, a period commonly referred to as the wars began. The "wars" were a group of large scale arguments across the wiki, due to lack of administration, as well as some users' beliefs in the existence of the Olympians. It resulted in violent use of talk pages and overall division of the wiki. The wars ended around late June, as Wikia Staff took action. Several "notable editors" rose during this time: Supernado, SayuriDarling and Pbre. They were often suggested to request administrator rights from Balistic Pve, and user Pbre did, though he was denied it because Balistic Pve was not a bureaucrat at the time.

Growth[]

Around early July, The avatar had returned to the wiki, and began by assisting the wiki's leadership. He proposed and created several new policies. Balistic Pve, who was on vacation, quickly granted him adminship for his help (the two had already met some time back as well). The avatar began by creating many more policies, and started to enforce them. He reorganized the wiki's categorization, templates, and administration. He also made several new improvements to varying parts of the wiki (Forums, IRC and Community Portal). Around now, Balistic Pve began to come back in activity, and made a mass influx of edits and the duo announced many new proposals and announcements; including the demotion of inactive admins. The wiki was also granted a spotlight due to its rapid boom. On August 1st, Supernado was granted sysop rights, and The avatar was promoted to bureaucrat.

How You can Help[]

You can help by creating new pages, fixing grammar and spelling errors, and making sure there is no vandalism. There will be no tolerance for vandalism here, and if a user is caught vandalizing, it may result to the user being blocked (at an administrator's discretion). You can also help by doing some onerous cleaning duties - checking recent changes for vandalism, creating wanted pages, ensuring that no pages are orphans, making sure that all pages have categories, and generally reorganizing information as required.
