Sally Jackson is a supporting character in Percy Jackson and the Olympians TV series. She is the mortal mother of Greek demigod Percy Jackson, an ex-lover of Poseidon, and the wife of Gabe Ugliano.

History[]

Sally Jackson is the mother of main protagonist Percy Jackson. Sally is a human and had her demigod son with Greek God of the Sea Poseidon, whom she met at a beach cabin in Montauk. Sally raised Percy mostly by herself in Manhattan, New York, often sending him to boarding schools. When Percy got a little older Sally married human Gabe Ugliano, to help thicken the mist protecting Percy from surrounding monsters.

Season One[]

I Accidentally Vaporize My Pre-Algebra Teacher[]

After her son gets expelled from Yancy Academy, Sally hugs him upon returning home and takes him to their cabin in Montauk. Gabe allows them to take the car if they bring him sandwiches from di Angelo’s on the way back.

At the cabin, Percy tells his mother about all the strange things he’s been experiencing lately and Sally reveals Percy is a demigod just as Grover Underwood arrives at warn them about incoming danger. As Sally drives, she and Grover explain everything to Percy as best as they can as the Minotaur chases after them and pushes them off the road. They crawl out of the wreckage near Camp Half-Blood and Sally explains she cannot enter as she takes her son’s jacket to distract the Minotaur. When the boys are near the border, she is grabbed by the Minotaur and seemingly killed, her supposed death is soon avenged by Percy.

In reality Hades takes her to the Underworld to use her as a bargaining chip to get Percy to return his Helm of Darkness, believing the boy stole it from him.

I Plunge to My Death[]

In a flashback during a swimming lesson, Sally encourages Percy to swim when he is scared to let go of the side, stating that this skill could save his life one day.

We Find Out the Truth, Sort Of[]

In a flashback, Sally drops Percy off at a boarding school that can help him as Percy locks himself in, not wanting to go. Sally tells Percy he is going to the school whether he wants to or not. However, Percy is rejected from the school after the staff learn he wondered onto the roof after seeing a flying horse. Sally begs for her son to attend as she already pulled him out of his old school.

In a diner, Sally tries and fails to get Percy to accept the school and, taking his empty milkshake cup, goes to pay the bill. At the counter, she drops a lit match into the cup and a storm appears outside. Almost instantaneously. Poseidon arrives and joins Sally. The god comforts her as Sally reveals she is thinking of bringing Percy to Camp Half-Blood as she thinks there is no other option. She states that the two living together in the city is starting to attract attention from Poseidon's world and expresses her fear that soon threats will come after her son. Sensing there is more. Poseidon prompts Sally and she explains she wants Percy to know who he is before Poseidon's family tries to tell the boy who they want him to be. As they talk, Sally decides to send her son to school. While it will be torturous for the mother and son, they will both be stronger because of it.

The Prophecy Comes True[]

After Hades gets his helm back, he releases Sally and she divorces Gabe. On her son's first day of seventh grade, he reveals Kronos visited him in his dream and asks her son about it before they go about their day.

Appearance[]

Sally is a strikingly beautiful woman with sparkling blue eyes that change of color in the light. Her hair is long and brown with a few streaks of grey.

Personality[]

Sally is very strong both for her and her son Percy Jackson. She is very loving and protective of her son and works hard to give him everything. She is very brave, even sacrificing herself so Percy and Grover can make it to camp.

Relationships[]

Percy Jackson[]

Above all else, Sally loves her son Percy Jackson. The two are very close and are very loving and protective of one another. Sally was taken to the underworld by Hades protecting Percy from the Minotaur.

Gabe Ugliano[]

After having her son Percy with the Greek God Poseidon, Sally married Gabe Ugliano. The two do not get along very well and fight often. Sally is the only one employed in their marriage, but Gab attempts to boss her around. She sticks up for herself and Percy, but will often do as he asks to keep him around.

Poseidon[]

Ex-lover and father of her son Percy Jackson.

Etymology[]

  • Sally is a feminine given name derived from Sarah, meaning “noble woman”.
  • Jackson is a very common name of English and Scottish origin, coming from "Son of Jack" as many U.S political parties.
