The Sea of Cortez, also known as the Gulf of California, is a sea in western Mexico.

As Zane Obispo, Ren Santiago, Ah-Puch, and Rosie are attacked by a colony of bats sent by Camazotz, they steal a boat and flee into the sea. A few hours later Zane goes by canoe to through the sea to the Arch of Cabo San Lucas.

The sea is named after conquistador Hernan Cortez.
