The Kane Chronicles is a streaming series adapted from The Kane Chronicles trilogy of books.
History[]
Author of The Kane Chronicles, Rick Riordan, announced on September 12th, 2020 that the trilogy would be adapted into a trilogy of feature films by Netflix.[1]
On March 27, 2023, Rick announced that the first film was still in development.[2]
On February 23, 2024, it is revealed that the trilogy was cancelled by Netflix [3]. The films will be shopped around to other studios.
On June 26, 2024, Nexus Point News exclusively reported that The Kane Chronicles was no longer going to be a film trilogy and is instead being adapted into a television series currently in development at Disney+, which is Home to its sister series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. They reported that the Kane Chronicles series is being described as set in the same universe as the hit streaming series and reported that Rick Riordan will be onboard as a writer and executive producer for the series.[4]

- The reason that Netflix was originally going to produce an adaptation in the form of a trilogy of films instead of Disney+ was due to the rights to The Kane Chronicles not being part of the Fox merger, leaving the rights to The Kane Chronicles available for Netflix to have acquired at the time.[5]
