The Mark of Athena is the graphic novel adaptation of The Mark of Athena [1]. It was released on September 26, 2023.
Differences[]
- Terminus does not show up on the Argo II.
- Nemesis isn't cracking fortune tellers, and is instead using a cootie catcher. She also gives Leo a cootie catcher instead of a fortune cookie.
- In the scene with Narcissus and the nymphs, Echo is noticeably absent. Additionally, Narcissus' hair is blonde instead of dark.
- Leo reveals the beach is lime on the Argo II instead of on the beach
- Frank and Leo Valdez do not go to get a damage report from Festus, instead, Leo reveals it in front of everyone, and also the "It's alive!", line is also in front of everyone and not just Leo.
- The episode with Keto and Phorcys at the Georgia Aquarium is completely absent.
- The episodes with Skolopendra, Hercules, Achelous, Chrysaor, and the dolphin warriors are seen but not given much details.
- Tiberinus and Rhea Silvia do not appear to Annabeth and Percy to take her on her part of the quest. Instead, the Mark of Athena leads them to the door, at which point she enters alone.
- Annabeth only briefly finds a shrine to Mithras, and does not battle ghosts that worship him.
- The Argo II breathes Greek Fire on Ephialtes from the figurehead rather than blasting him with Greek Fire ballista.
- During the battle at the Colosseum, instead of a Hawaiian shirt and baby-blue leotard respectively, Ephialtes wears armor and a sock comedy mask while Otis wears armor and a buskin tragedy mask.
- When the Argo II breaks into the Athena Parthenos Shrine, it stays floating above the parking lot of the Emmanuel Building rather than lowering into the cavern itself. It also immediately deploys grappling lines rather than it being done once the statue starts falling into the chasm.
- Rather than Annabeth becoming tangled in webs that are still attached to Arachne, the monster deliberately shoots Annabeth with a web in order to drag her into Tartarus.
Trivia[]
- It was released on the same day as The Chalice of the Gods.
