Theia is the Titaness of Sight, Splendor, Enlightenment and the Shining Light of the Clear Blue Sky (aether). She is a member of the first generation of the Titans, a daughter of Ouranos and Gaea, the sister-wife of Hyperion , and the mother of Helios, Selene, and Eos.
History[]
Early Life[]
Theia was born the oldest Titaness and the sixth-born of the twelve Titans, the eldest of the three races born to Gaea (Mother Earth) and Ouranos (Father Sky). She, her sisters, and her eldest brother Oceanus refused to participate in Kronos' usurpation and subsequent castration of Ouranos.
Personality[]
According to Percy Jackson's Greek Gods, she loved sparkly things and bright scenic views. Every morning, when daylight returned, she would dance with happiness. She would climb mountains just so she could see for miles around. She would even delve underground and use her magic powers to make precious gems gleam and sparkle. She was the one who gave gold its luster and made diamonds glitter.
Abilities[]
- Titanic Energy: Like all Titans, Theia has the ability to blast things hundreds of yards away from herself with a yell or a wave of the hand.
- Titanic Divine Form: As a Titaness, Theia has the ability to incinerate any being lesser than a god/Titan only by being present.
- Tongue of the Old Times fluency: According to Tyson, this is the ancient language that Gaea spoke to the Titans, Elder Cyclopes , and Hekatonkheires before the birth of the Olympian gods. Hence, Theia understands and speaks it perfectly.
- Photokinesis: As a Titaness governing light, she has divine authority and absolute control over light.
- Vision Manipulation: As the Titaness of sight, Theia had the ability to manipulate her vision and that of others, which enabled her to, amongst other things, induce or cure blindness. An additional ability she presumably derived from this province is:
- Foresight: As Titaness of sight, Theia could see the past, present and future, an ability which she passed down to many of her descendants.
