Not Part of Riordanverse

The following article/section is from the The Spirit Glass continuity under Rick Riordan Presents and not the Riordanverse canon.

Tina (full name Celestina) is the maternal aunt and legal guardian of Corazon Lopez. In reality, she is an immortal Sky Maiden.

History[]

Tina was born as a Sky Maiden, the immortal daughters of the great god Bathala. According to legend, she was the youngest Sky Maiden who was curious and longed to bathe in the waters of the Earth, eventually convincing her sisters to do so. However, a human hunter stole Tina's gown, her source of power. Tina was stranded in the human lands and never returned to her home, although many versions of the legend existed about what had happened to her.

In reality, Tina fell in love with and married the man who took her gown, starting a family with him. Tina's sisters never visited her, and she expressed a belief that they wished for her to return to the sky with them instead. Tina and her husband had a daughter named Althea, but while Tina stayed forever young, her husband aged and eventually died. By this time, Althea had aged to the point that she looked more like Tina's twin than her daughter. The heartbroken Tina warned her daughter not to make the same mistake that she did and give her heart to a human or Althea would face their mortal fate. Tina did not wish to lose her daughter as well and face the pain that she had felt when her husband died. Although Althea promised, she later fell in love with Emilio Lopez and left with him. Tina warned her daughter that if she left with Emilio, she would die, but Althea knew that she would never live otherwise. Once she was gone, Tina ripped out her own heart in order to avoid feeling pain ever again and buried it beneath her House, bringing the House to life.

After Althea and Emilio died in a car accident, Tina became the guardian of her granddaughter Corazon Lopez who had been unaware of Tina's existence up until that point. Tina lied that she was an aunt that Corazon had never met, never revealing that she was actually Corazon's immortal grandmother and the Sky Maiden of the stories that Corazon had grown up with.
