Tisiphone is one of the three Furies. She represents avenged murder, with Hades being her master.
History[]
Several myths recount how she fell in love with Cithaeron and later caused his death by snakebite. She is also recognized as a furious and cruel guardian of Tartarus.
She punished those who committed the following crimes of murder:
- Patricide (killing a parent or other near relative)
- Fratricide (killing one's brother/sister)
- Homicide (deliberate killing someone)
- Suicide (killing one's self)
Percy Jackson and the Olympians[]
The Lightning Thief[]
She, Megaera, and Alecto all board on the same bus which Percy Jackson, Grover Underwood, and Annabeth Chase ride on and because of the Mist, the mortals see them as only elderly women. Percy sneaks past them using Annabeth's invisibility cap, but they attack Annabeth and Grover instead while screaming, "Where is it?" The group thinks this means Percy, but later they realize the Furies were looking for an "it", not a "he". The group thinks they are talking about the Master Bolt until it is revealed Hades is missing his Helm of Darkness. Later, she and her sisters chase the trio to the beach after they escaped the Underworld using Poseidon's Pearls. After Percy's fight with Ares, the Furies realize he is innocent and retreat to the Underworld.
The Last Olympian[]
She is with Hades when Percy and Nico di Angelo arrive in the Underworld.
