"I Play Dodgeball with Cannibals"[]

As Tyson and Percy walk to their last day of school, they are stopped by Annabeth Chase, who steps out of the Gray Sisters' Taxi and points a knife at him. Tyson picks Percy up to protect him, but Percy tells him to put him down. After entering, Annabeth tells them to go to Camp Half-Blood, however they are a drachma short for three passengers. However, Percy pays and they drive off. Once they arrive. Everything seems quiet until the three are ambushed by Laistrygonian Giants. Tyson shields Percy from a fireball and they reach the barrier. While the demigods get in, he cannot. Percy goes to help him and the daughter of Athena reluctantly allows him to enter. However, a laistrygonian goes in with him before being killed by Clarisse La Rue. She attempts to kill Tyson as well, but Percy stops her. After Annabeth realizes that she laistrygonians were a distraction, Percy thinks the real attack is in the front as Annabeth realizes that Thalia's Pine Tree is in danger. The three rush to the tree just as Luke Castellan stabs it with a poisonous knife before flying off. Soon, Clarisse arrives with Tantalus, who orders Tyson to be killed. Percy defends Tyson before he is claimed as a son of Poseidon.

He is placed under house arrest in Poseidon's Cabin before being joined by Percy. Annabeth goes to visit and asks to speak with Percy over a walk, preferring not to be around Tyson, Percy rejects this before asking if Tyson knew he was Poseidon's son. He insists he did not. As they try to sleep, Tyson tells Percy his story and his brother sees his scars. After Percy falls out of bed, Tyson checks on his brother and he listens as Percy recites some coordinates he heard, pinpointing them to the Sea of Monsters.

"Demon Pigeons Attack"[]

As the camp prepares for the Chariot Races, Percy brings the broken wheel for their cabin's chariot and Tyson repairs it. As he works, Tyson asks Percy when he can meet their father. To his dismay, Percy informs Tyson that the gods see their children on their own schedules. Once they are ready, they head to the track. While Tyson is hesitant because of their confinement, Percy tells him they are allowed. Before the race starts, Tyson overhears Annabeth telling her partner, Bronte, to attack Percy as she cannot bring herself to do it. As the race starts off, Percy and Tyson do well, holding their own after Clarisse takes out the riders from the Hermes and Hephaestus's Cabins. However, when a flock of Stymphalian Birds breaks through the barrier, he and Percy help Annabeth disperse the birds with music. Once it is over, he returns to his cabin.

After Percy returns from a camp wide meeting, he tells Tyson that Clarisse chose Annabeth and, after the daughter of Athena whispered something in the daughter of Ares's ear, selected Chris Rodriguez. Tyson informs Percy of what he heard Annabeth say before the race and Percy decides to go get the Golden Fleece himself. Tyson tries to talk his brother out of it, but to no avail. Later that night, Annabeth goes to Poseidon's Cabin to speak with Percy, but Tyson tells her he is not present.

As Tantalus is about to shoot Percy and Annabeth, Tyson barrels into an activities director and joins the demigods in a boat. He does a quick patch job after Tantalus hits the side of their boat as Percy uses Riptide to deflect another of Tantalus' arrows as they ride away. As they go towards the cruise ship, Tyson expresses his joy at being on a quest.

"We Board the Princess Andromeda"[]

Tyson, Percy, and Annabeth sneak aboard a nearby cruise ship, the Princess Andromeda, and make their way to an empty cabin. He changes out of his camp clothes as the demigods talk. After he emerges from the bathroom, Tyson catches the scent of something before the realizes there are monsters aboard. He stays behind as Percy and Annabeth searches the deck and return with a woman’s bag. They look through it and find a card that a scythe on it and they realize the ship belongs to Kronos. The three think of a plan as the try to find where Luke might be. After guessing the son of Hermes would be in the biggest suite, they discuss tactics.

After reaching the largest suite, they hide as Alison Simms marches towards the room. Tyson listens in and informs his companions of what is being said when Alison and four other demigods burst out ready to fight. However, Luke convinces them to stand down and has Percy and Annabeth brought in while Tyson is escorting away by a group of Laistrygonian Giants. The cyclops ends up bonding with the Laistrygonians, however it is only a trick to gain their trust.

Tyson is taken to a training area where he tricks the Laistrygonians into helping him make a bomb. After Percy and Annabeth arrive with Luke and his followers, Tyson puts the finishing touches on the explosive and it detonates. He walks away unscathed and takes Percy and Annabeth with him. He barricades a door leading out to the main deck and the three escape in a lifeboat. Percy thanks him as Tyson states he would never betray his brother.

"Clarisse Blows Up Everything"[]

After stopping at a safe house Annabeth knows of, he and Percy wait outside as the daughter of Athena looks for supplies. As the brothers wait, they are found by Clarisse. The daughter of Ares demands the coordinates for the Sea of Monsters and Annabeth offers their services as navigator, engine worker, and expert on the Sea of Monsters. Clarisse refuses, stating the positions are filled and Percy challenges her to single combat. As the two fight, Tyson notices the Clarisse's navigator, engine worker, and expert are mysteriously taken out. Annabeth removes her baseball cap and the daughter of Ares reluctantly lets them join her quest.

As the CSS Birmingham sets sail, he and Percy talk, Tyson asks how much longer until they reach their destination. Percy states they are one hundred and thirty nautical miles away and details their direction and speed. As Percy questions how he knows, Tyson states that it is from his divine heritage and wonders if he has that ability as well. Percy states it will kick in soon enough and Tyson goes to check on the boilers. Tyson spots a friendly hippocampus he names Rainbow who shows him a bracelet, Annabeth finds Tyson with it and, knowing she throws it overboard, asks him where he got it. He tells her how and, after remembering something from her past, she leaves and Tyson goes to the boiler room.

As they enter the Sea of Monsters, Tyson stays in the boiler room as they sail past Scylla. However, after watches her crew be eaten, Clarisse changes course for Charybdis. Percy tells the cyclops to power up the engines to help him get past the whirlpool. A massive cyclone erupts from the bottom deck of the Ironclad after Annabeth drops the Thermos of Winds, ripping it apart from the inside and causing everyone onboard to be scattered by the wind.

"We Check In to C.C.'s Spa & Resort"[]

Percy sees Tyson when looking in a mirror at C.C.'s Spa and Resort, thinking back on the time he spent with his brother.

"Nobody Gets the Fleece"[]

After the destruction of the CSS Birmingham, Tyson is sinking to the ocean floor. When he reaches the bottom, he realizes he can breathe underwater. After looking around, a bracelet floats towards him. Tyson grabs it and turns around to find a presence.

After Polyphemus critically wounds Annabeth, Tyson runs over to defend her. Polyphemus chastises Tyson for siding with demigods as Tyson declares his loyalty to his friends and the cyclopses get into a fight resulting in Tyson tackling Polyphemus off a cliff. He climbs back up, seeing Luke carrying Annabeth, and heads back to the cave to free Percy, Clarisse, and Grover. Tyson apologizes for failing to save Annabeth as Percy hugs his brother. Tyson takes them to where he last saw Luke, only to see him sailing away with Percy’s boat. As Clarisse demands Percy tell her his next move, Tyson summons Hippocampai, to help them go after the son of Hermes and save their friend.

"I Go Down with the Ship"[]

Percy, Clarisse, Tyson, Grover and Tyson track the Princess Andromeda to Montauk and capture one of Luke’s allies, a son of Aphrodite named Aidan, with the cyclops mimicking the voice of Alison Simms. The son of Aphrodite tries to talk his way out of the situation, but the others restrain him and take his keycard. After Percy and Clarisse fight over whether to save Annabeth or the Golden Fleece first, Clarisse takes the keycard after Percy lets slip how to find the fleece. Percy leaves to find another keycard and tasks Tyson and Grover with finding a ride back to camp.

Later, he stands watch over a pickup truck as Tyson hotwires it. However the cyclops is unable to drive. Grover suggests the Hippocampi, but Tyson reveals he told them to leave. After Grover mentions they seek help, Tyson suggests they call Sally, who is shopping for groceries in Montauk. Sally asks how everything is going and becomes suspicious after they mention they need a ride. Grover tries to convince her they were accidentally left behind on a field trip, but Sally calls their bluff demands answers, leaving to get them once they give her the whole story. Sally arrives and, after waiting for Percy and Annabeth, they head to Camp Half-Blood.

The Fleece Works Its Magic Too Well[]

As they near camp, they see Blackjack without Clarisse. Percy gets out to speak with Blackjack and, as he does, Sally talks with her son's friends about current events and Grover and Annabeth try to get Tyson to stop talking after he mentions the Great Prophecy. Just then, Percy returns and tells them enemy forces have surrounded camp and the daughter of Ares went on foot with the fleece. Everyone gets out and heads to camp.

Grover and his friends watch as a group of Laistrygonians pelt the weakening barrier as the campers struggle to fend them off. Tyson tells the others that he hears something and they see multiple trucks and vans pull up full of reinforcements for Kronos's followers. They see Luke Castellan and other demigods emerge from the convoy as Tyson relies their conversation to the others. They learn that the son of Hermes is organizing an attack on Half-Blood Hill and that he has spies among the campers.

As they think of how best to deal with the situation, they are found by a group of campers who view them as traitors. The four try to reason with them but they refuse to listen. After asking to be brought to Tantalus, they are informed that he has been killed. They are then brought to the Big House to speak with Dionysus. Tyson and his friends try to tell Dionysus about the threat at hand, but he brushes off their concerns until Percy mentions that the Titan's forces are on the verge of storming camp. After stating they will destroy everyone in camp, including Dionysus, Mr. D insists he cannot until a Titan directly attacks camp. He listens as Percy tells everyone present that they need to stand up for their home as no one is coming to help them.

He and Percy join the other campers in defending Half-Blood Hill. As Luke subdues Percy, Tyson stops the son of Hermes from delivering a fatal blow and drives Luke away. He watches as Thalia is revived and Percy and other campers are inadvertently electrocuted by her.

Later, Poseidon comes to both him and Percy in a joint dream. Tyson's father offers the cyclops and chance to work in the Underwater Forges and he accepts without hesitation. Tyson sees it as thanks for leading him to Percy. Confused, Percy asks what he means. Tyson reveals that when he lived on the streets, he often prayed for a friend and was led to Percy. Tyson says his goodbyes and leaves to go ready.
