The Unknown are a race of mysterious and ancient beings that have aided the Mayan and the Mexica gods.

History

The Unknown first appeared around the fifth time the Mayan gods created humanity. The two formed an alliance with both parties creating time. However, the Mayan gods eventually learned that if the Unknown had children with demons, the resulting offspring would be powerful enough to overthrow them, so they betrayed the Unknown. Eventually, the Unknown partnered with the Mexica gods, but they stole magic from the Unknown and hid it in humans. As a consequence, the gods were put in a state of slumber.

When investigating Isla Pájaros, Zane Obispo and Brooks come across carvings that do not seem Mayan and think of Ren Santiago's ancient astronaut theory. When they return to Isla Holbox, the two call her.

When Ren reunites with K'iin, it tells her the truth and the Unknown when the daughter of Pacific finds the Crown of Jade and Shadows. Later, after leaving her physical body, Edison sees her. After being told only gods and Unknown can see her, she realizes the Edison is half-Unknown.
